So we went down to Christie Pits — which, lemme tell ya, ain’t no pit.
I been to real pits. My cousin Rusty fell in one tryin’ to wrestle a raccoon once.
Had to reel him out with a fishing rod.
Anyway.
We show up — bats in hand, dreams in our hearts — and the entire park smells like a Cheech & Chong Easter brunch held on Christmas afternoon...
I swear I saw a man throw a frisbee to a tree — and the tree threw it back.
Not sayin’ it was the broccoli breeze, but one of our hitters walked to first base after hittin’ a foul ball — and no one stopped him.
.
We made three errors, mostly by aiming throws to right field.....
We got picked off twice at second base — which is impressive considering it looked like both runners were trying to sneak back to first.
One dude got caught stealin’ third, and I don’t blame him.
I tried stealin’ third once. Got grounded for two weeks and had to write a letter of apology.
Now for the positives:Justin smoked a double.
Marcus and Luca with hot sticks both got two hits.
And for some strange reason, I got the urge to eat Jell-O with marshmallows after the game. It was incredible.
We’ll be back next game — like a cold sore on a date: strong, uninvited, and ready to ruin someone’s afternoon.
