Seaway Tournament May 23-24 2025. Final Score: Let's Not
Special ESPN Edition.
They came. They saw. They... mostly stood around.
The beloved Martin Grove Soxers packed their Martins, Grovers, Socks and unearned confidence into things with wheels and headed to Morrisburg, Ontario — a town best known for… a roundabout and well, nothing else. Except now, this.
Three games. Three losses.
Game 1: versus Ottawa Patriots
Final Score: 15–0.
Yes. That’s real.
Fifteen. To. Zero.
Even the scoreboard said, please no more.
For the love of all that's good and pure. No more.
Coach’s Postgame Message:
'Let’s focus on the positives.'
The list was short. Like... two items.
1. No one was hurt.
2. It’s Friday night.
Game 2: versus Kanata Cubs
Final Score: 12–4
This one felt better. Not good, just “burnt toast” better — still painful. Slightly more edible.
The Soxers showed a lot of... presence. They were physically there.
“They had flashes of greatness… surrounded by full of whatever the opposite of greatness is.”
Game 3: versus Newmarket Hawks
Final Score: 10-0
Think “The Titanic”, but less a tragic love story and few more icebergs.
Look.
Was it a tough weekend? Yes.
Were the games... not close? Also yes.
Did we still show up, swing hard, chirp, and did to baseball what Nickelback did to music and the Leafs did to hockey?
Hell Yes.
So we didn’t win.
But hopefully left with fun memories and one stolen game ball from the Seaway Surge tournament.
Onward and sideways to the next challenge.
