Lord Geezball gives and takes away.

Mostly takes, if we’re being honest.

Exhibition game

A preseason neighbourhood clash between the Martins and the Mini Popes — or as we call it, Siblings from Different Innings — took place on a cold night under the watchful gaze of Lord Geezball.

In what can only be described as an act of radical generosity, the Soxees selflessly donated 16 unanswered runs in under seven innings, in what experts are calling “the nicest act of preseason kindness ever recorded.”

This wasn’t a loss. This was community outreach.

Royal York needed confidence. The Soxers obliged.

And before you ask — yes, this was fully intentional, as the pre-game pep talk from the Coach was clear & inspirational:

“Okay boys, listen up. Come on, bring it in.

Remember what we practiced.

We drilled on this.

Get out there and do literally the first insane thing that comes to your mind. No bad ideas.

Outfielders, you sit on the ball and try to hatch it like an egg.

Infielders, you knit me a scarf out of your own hair.

The rest of you? I don’t know. I don’t care.

Maybe lay in the grass and act like you’re swimming in it. Surprise me.

Bring it in — let’s say the team prayer.

We dedicate today’s game to Lord Geezball, Duke of Love & Chaos.

May our victory be written in the blood of those he arbitrarily elects to slay.

On three…”

And off they went. Into the storm. Uncoordinated. Undeterred. But Mostly hydrated.

Despite the generosity, a few heroic moments emerged from the chaos:

Lorenzo: 2 innings, 6 K’s, 1 ER including outstanding catch in the outfield

KZ: 1.2 innings, 3 K’s, 1 ER

-Uniforms matched. Effort... fluctuated. (Tuck in that shirt, G — this isn’t a sleepover.)

No panic its only preseason…
